SUN BROADCAST_1 [HERE COMES THE SUN... DO NN DO DOO]

Whats happening Listners, this is DJ Sunrise comin' at cha
Guest DJ'ing in this fine establishment while taking a "break" from the accusing eyes surrounding my usual blog: http://thepainsofpwnage.blogspot.com/

So, while Im here. Let me just say, its a fine thing, what we have got here.
Even in an apperent "slow period" the fans of NSR are still given a good dose of bloggy goodness each week... or there abouts

So its on this note that I bring you my own addition to this long line of greatness:
an original post by Sean Madden.
Something that for one reason or another doesnt come along too often these days. so just sit back, relax and let me try to do a legitimate post... god knows its been a while... do I still even know how?

Wellsies, tonight, my beef is aimed at one word. One concept:
Conformity.
Conformity is ladies and gentlemen one of the 7 over used words of the 21st century. (dont ask me for all 7, its just a good round even number)

People are always using this magic concept as a basis not to do something, or to do something.
And occasionly its even used as an insult. I hate it when this happens, it sounds like: "Damn you, you suck for having a human urge to connect with the rest of society"

Not only this, but the word "conformist" just uttered immediately makes one sound like a douchebag. And thats a fact. Stop to think, "who do I know that uses this as an insult or really uses this at all?"
I think you'll find that its all the tools, emos and potheads that you know... considering the readers of this blog are High schooler's... thats alot of people.

Thats really all I got. You see, even though I blog alot, I am yet to perfect the art of drawing attention and talking a lot about something I dont have a lot of points on... hopefully this will improve over time, though it has been a year.

Not a long post, yes, but im on a bit of a deadline you see.
Soo, DJ Sunrise oot!

SOL BROADCAST_07 [ ALL APOPLOGIES ]

Gooood merry morn fine readers, its DJ Jwol ridin' boris into ya' brains.....

Recommended listening: All Apologies by Nirvana

Well I haven't actually got that much to post about so how a few apologies, yeah let's go with that.

My fellow DJ's Trigon and Drop-Doctor, have recently posted rather meh-worthy posts. Drop-Doctors post didn't follow the layout that we so strictly adhere to but otherwise was a slightly below standard post. Trigon has posted a "caption contest" using a photo that has no action, and is just a photo of himself in a pirate hat. Trigon we are not 4 years old and will not laugh, unless Needles posts a caption, then maybe we will, please refrain from posting crap again. Thankyou.

Short post but hey whatever, by the way, there are still a few positions open here at Office so why dont you apply today!

Off to Go celebrate the battle by drinking a pint of ale with Boris

DJ Jwol OUT!

Ferrari for $15,704,746.48… is it worth it?

Good evening all..

Listening music: Danger Zone, Kenny Loggins

At Maranello, the home place of the prancing horse, a 1957 Ferrari 250 TR sold for 15 million dollars. This is now the most expensive car to be sold in an auction. Who could blame it, its one of the most beautiful cars ever seen by man. The red and black paint job screams Darth Maul in a classical and elegant way. The sound of the 300 bhp (It was a lot back then) V12 that revved to a glorious 7,200 rpm would be enough to make you and your passenger hit the non-existent roof. But is it worth the 15 million and 40 cents price tag?

The bean counter in you is screaming at the top of his lungs. NO!!!!! This is an overly expensive trophy piece. There are many better cars out there for a tenth of the money needed for this hunk of metal. “When will you ever take it out?” will be a question running through the heads of everyone hoping to buy the Italian steed. This precious handmade masterpiece will eventually rust in your garage never to be heard again.

But on those occasional days where the sun is bright, the sky is blue and the road is clear, this 52-year-old beauty will be roaring up a mountain road with the only sound heard is the bellowing V12. This is all the reason you need.

STATIC-BREAKER

Well the fountain of posts, with much mourning over here at Office, has started to dry up...

so we are in a little bit of a pickle here and we need a new batch of DJs or at least guest-bloggers to help us out, because the ones that we prepared earlier seem to have lost ambition, and flavour...

Yes readers, the future of NSR is in YOUR hands, what you choose to do with it is entirely up to you. If you feel that you need to get your voice heard and would like to join us down here at Office, you can contact either of us,

NSR BROADCAST_11 [ BACK ]

Good Afternoon, fantastic followers, this is DJ Needles burning through and keeping it true, the looong weekend is fading into the past and i hope you have enjoyed it

Recommended Listening: The Cure (again, i know, but this time actually go listen to them)

As all of you readers should know, this weekend was a very special weekend for me, if you want to know what happened a quick scroll down and brief look over DJ Jwol's post should bring you up-to-date.
Now, a few of you have been asking me for the details into my night, and through my universal refusal to divulge you in the doings i seemed to have 'dissapointed' a few of you...
I'll just tell you what i say to everyone else, it was brilliant, bad luck if you want more info...
and if you are actually dissapointed by that, post a comment below so i can not care about it.

Well, with lack of posting from certain DJ's recently i've considered starting up a new thread of broadcasts within NSR, comprising of sections from guest DJ's, through this i hope to keep a constant flow of material throught the pages of NSR. Anyone could be a guest DJ, you could ask to post or a DJ might ask you, you could post about whatever you wanted to. This might not go ahead though...

tomorrow see's the beginning of Vietnam Week at Barker, mufty day on Thursday, don't forget or you'll be rather embarassed...

There's that Christian Studies assesment due in sometime, i really have no idea when. Once we've handed this in the total marks from assignments adds up to a grand total of 85% of our yearly mark for Christian Studies...

State of Origin kiddies got to stay at home for 7 days after coming home, as Swine Flu precations, one of the players from the night has been confirmed with the virus, so the boom's gonna be soon. Those 'cheap' white masks that we'll be wearing soon currently cost just below $5.00, which is a massive rip, i really don't like how people are making profit from our initial panic attacks, it just increases the hysteria...

not much else to go on about now,
DJ Needles joyfully signing out, everything's okay...

Things have changed for me, and that's okay
I feel the same, I'm on my way, and I say
Things have changed for me, and that's okay

SOL BROADCAST_06 [ OVER-VIEW ]

Good merry morning readers, It's DJ Jwol comin' atcha with a mighty fine hello and then a social update.

ңє׀ґδ

Hardly looks like a hello but whatever.

Recommended listening: Happy Birthday  by The Birthday Massacre

Now to the social update.
Unless you have been living under a soundproof, self sustaining rock on Mars, then you will know that something happened with Needles last night. This was, of course, his first date. The girl who he is now going out with just so happens to be the girl he liked in Primary school, proof that there are such things as happy endings after all. What with the ever growing reach of the Swine Flu literally at our doorstep, it is moments like these that remind us of the strength of the human spirit. I cannot go into any intimate details and would not go into said details even if I could, because you know they are...well intimate and if Needles wants to share, then he will, when he posts.

Onto slightly related matters, our good friend "Timotei" has finally found himself a girlfriend and has (I hope) given up on another girl that was frankly a bitch to him when she got bored. I hope that "Timotei" and his new girl last for at least several months, because he is so much better when he is happy.

Segwaying into an update about myself, the girl who I am "madly in love with" to quote several people, now says that she doesn't want to see me anymore and is sick of the way that I make her feel. I'm trying to fix things I really am, but I'm unsure as to how I go about fixing this. As pathetic as it sounds, she may be able to easily forget about me but I cannot let go of her just yet, is that so selfish?

Now to matters even a little more depressing (Hey, I said this was a social update, both good and bad) our good friend "Strykun" may have finally given up on the girl he has been chasing for a few months now, this is, as I have been told, a mutual agreement that they are both sick of the way the other makes them feel. Sorry to end on such a sad note, I promise that by the time of the next post, things will be looking better in all our girl lives.

Off to go ride Boris into battle

TRT BROADCAST_06 [ VALKYRIE ]

Trigon and Needles, coming at you with more strategy game updates. Yes, it's another post about exactly the same thing. Get over it. If you don't care go read something else. No-one is forcing you to read this.

Recommended listening:
Monty Python. Hilarious.

Well, I've played 4 games now. The first main tweak was the elimination of being able to fire more than 40 missile counters at 800 damage each.

We have come to the conclusion that the game is big ships shooting the crap out of each other with the occasional smaller ship being utterly obliterated by a stray shot. It is unbalanced and not that fun.

So we have two options. Option one: Add some weapons, make movement easier, reduce the scale and go for a bigship dominated game with very few smaller ships and almost no fighters/bombers.

Option two: Reduce the bigships domination, create more tactical opportunity and fighter/bomber actions. I've actually played 3 of my 4 games with the largest ship being a destroyer (small in the scheme of things), and it was fun and it worked.

I'm leaning towards the second option, because it means that later we can re-add the bigger ship numbers for large-scale conflicts. I'd like opinions on this.

Needles and I are going to reserve final judgement on this because the game is rather difficult to play when all of the weapons are represented by upside-down fighter or bomber counters. You don't know what they are, you don't know what damage they do. We should get a game or two in before Needles leaves with the damage counters that I am going to go and do now.

Trigon, out.

DJ Needles, sliding in here for my input into Valkyrie, if you want to shout "That's Adorable!", you'll just have to wait...

Recommended Listening: Kraftwerk

I've only played one game of Valkyrie so far, but from what i have seen it needs a big rethink in order to become a playable and enjoyable game.

As Trigon said there really is a big flaw in the game with big-ships and little-ships pretty much fighting two different battles,

to get rid of this i would like to get rid of larger ships, so the game concentrates around small squadrons of fighters/bombers and slightly larger craft. the battlefield should also have a greatly reduce size, with a starting separating distance of 30-40cm, combined with an increase in health this would lead to a more tactical game where ships are really up close to each-other, maybe fighting over objectives.

Smaller ships should also be able to take down larger ships through destroying vital structures such as engines, shield-generators, etc.

So we're working on these changes and hopefully we'll be able to go through more test games trying out some new rules fairly soon.

DJ Needles, signing out, i should be posting tonight as well, don't really know what to post about though, so if you have an idea either post a comment or chuck something into the Talk-box...

SOL BROADCAST_05 [ UN-DELETED ]

Goood morning listeners/readers... whatever

It's DJ Jwol comin' atcha with a fine hello

Ħęļľǿ

DJ Jwol signing out

Gone!

Well apparently that isn't good enough, and I need to actually post about something or other. So let’s go with a Review of Kung Fu Panda, a musical recommendation, then a cynical comment at the end, with leaving most questions un-answered. They will only be in the order you read them in.

Recommended listening: It is, as it was by The Red Paintings

Well, when I first bought my Xbox 360 it came with two games, these being; Kung Fu Panda and Lego: Indiana Jones, the former being a raucous good time, and honestly one of the best movie-games that I have ever played. It is predominantly a plat-former aimed at little kids, so the difficulty isn't particularly hard, except when the quick time events sneak up on you, The plot follows the same plot as the movie, but I can't really be bothered to tell you it so heres what Wikipedia says about it

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kung_Fu_Panda

Well that was enlightening.

So imagine that move except you control Po most of the time and the other masters later on, which by the way is awesome. The controls are standard plat-forming for the Xbox controls, if you don't know them, then you don't have an Xbox and it most likely doesn’t matter. The fighting is really good and is always ultra responsive and linking up combos when fighting groups of enemies feels very rewarding, much like in Ninja Gaiden. The multiplayer is also very fun with the controls being adjusted slightly for a 2d plane, much like in Super Smash Bros. In fact the Multiplayer is pretty much SSB but with Kung Fu Panda characters, so ninja shadow wolves and such=very fun.

All in all I really enjoyed this game and highly recommend it, if only that you hire it out.

Well this has been fun, sorry about the last post, I'm fixing things, just trying to keep certain people out of my business, because they are only making it worse, funny thing is, they won't read this and it doesn’t matter, I'm confronting them soon.

Off to go cut off a bears arms and replace them with chainsaws and name him Boris.

NSR BROADCAST_10 [ THE CRUNCH ]

DJ Needles starting up right now, i hope you kids are all hopped up and ready to go now because the looong weekend has powered it's way through and is just beginning.

recommended listening: Pictures of You - The Cure

i hope you've all got something to do, and yes sitting home playing TF2 for three days straight does count in my books. This is one good reason to stay as a part of the British Empire, long weekends, if we became a republic we'd have to come up with new names for them and we'd probably end up with vegimite/Kevin Rudd/Beer monday or something gay like that, so you know, as long as we stay 'British' we keep our dignity.

Well, i have something on each day this weekend and next, but i won't go into detail cause that would just bore you. So instead i'm here to talk to you about, well... whatever comes to my mind

Our first batch of Grange Leaders came back today, dutily mortified from the little 'uns but still thankful for the oppertunity to get away from it all...
DJ Jwol was one of these leaders, so you know, yay...

Not much else has happened this week really, the HD is going around (should be posted about by a DJ soon), Alex Newman and Alex Campbell broke up, more Exam results are coming back, general life happenings and such...

Ooh, and apparently I am "like the entire freaking blog my friend", so please do some more posting DJ's, this is meant to be a 'community' effort...

Deimos has had a name change to Valkyrie, after a discovery that Deimos Rising is apparently the name of a mac video game, the beta rules have been set, i'm helping DJ Trigon with preliminary games testing this weekend, it's all coming together very nicely

well, i'm sorry for the lack of post and structure, but i'm just quite nervous about tomorrow...

This is DJ Neeldes signing out, ready to go now...

gone
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well the kids are all hopped up and ready to go
They're ready to go now
They've got their surfboards
And they're going to the discotheque a go go
But she just couldn't stay
She had to break away
Well New York City really has it all
Oh yeah, oh yeah

TRT BROADCAST_05 [ DEIMOS ]

As some of you may have heard, DJ Needles and I have decided to write a game.

Listening: Runaway - Artist vs. Poet.

Deimos is a space-based miniature wargame designed on the principle of personalisation in your fleet and as such there are very few template units to choose from (think 2 per ship class). Comprehensive design rules allow the creation of very personal fleets tailored exactly to your play style. This customisation factor allows every battle to be different, No tactic will ever stand because there is always an opponent who has the set-up to beat it. This means that the game has a very high replay value.

There are 2 types of single ship, fighters and bombers. 5 Medium ships, Escorts, Corvettes, Gunships, Hunters and Frigates, battle each other but only harass the bigger ships. Destroyers, Carriers, Cruisers, Battleships and Sunships are between 20 and 40cm long on the board, with batteries of hard-hitting, powerful weapons that flare across the void.

The weapons also allow for a degree of tactics that is not usually present in wargames. Space would not give weapons a maximum range, so any weapon can be fired across the board, including dumb-fire weapons (or straight-line). The enemy can either move out of the way or take the blow across his line. 2 missile types, Orion and Tempest, speed away from the ships, accelerating quickly and causing untold destruction across the enemy line unless intercepted by fighters, drone defences or escorts. Beam and Lance weapons are the more powerful, capital ship only weapons, with lances being a single, very powerful shot and beams being multiple but less powerful shots not quite adding up to the same damage. The final weapon is an EMP generator which can disable 3 targets in any line it can fire on.

Except for the Hunter cannon. One of the most devastating weapons that any army can deploy, the Hunter cannon takes 10 turns to charge, making the hunter a nice target for the bigger ships to blow out of the (metaphorical) water. If you allow it to charge, however, it can take out a battleship. Single shot.

Deimos is shaping up very nicely. Any design ideas are welcomed. Please comment, stuff gets pushed off the bottom of the talk box and we'll miss it.

DJ Trigon, going back to my rules-writing.
